Terms of Service
This page describes how DrainSight actually works today (v1) and how the planned detection upgrade (v2) changes that. It is not a substitute for legal advice. Questions: hello@drainsight.ai.
These terms are an agreement between you (the contractor or the person creating an account for a
contractor) and DrainSight LLC (“DrainSight,” “we,” “us”) for the product at app.drainsight.ai and related sites, including drainsight.ai. By creating an account, joining a
company, or uploading footage, you agree to them.
1. The service
DrainSight helps plumbing and drain contractors turn sewer-camera footage into a reviewed, shareable inspection report. v1 extracts still frames from your upload, sends those frames to Google’s Gemini API to propose defects and read on-screen distance and pitch, and holds every finding behind a human review gate before publish. v2 (planned) is the same product with a DrainSight-hosted detector first and Gemini as a fallback — not a different legal product.
The report is a set of observations from the footage you uploaded and the review your team performed. It is not an engineering certification, a municipal inspection, a NASSCO PACP survey, or a guarantee that every defect in the line was found.
After a report is published, a shop may also write a repair estimate: named repairs, the shop’s own prices, and an optional note. DrainSight does not price a repair. The estimate is a separate page from the findings report. It is not a warranty that the work will fix the pipe.
2. Accounts and companies
Creating an account on the signup page creates a company. Teammates join only through that company’s invite link — do not open a second company for the same shop. You are responsible for who you invite and for what they approve or publish. Keep passwords and invite links under your control; rotating the invite link invalidates the old one.
You must be able to form a contract (generally 18 or older) and you must use a real business email you control.
3. Your footage and a license we need
You keep ownership of the video and the customer information you upload. You grant DrainSight a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, transcode, display, and create derivatives of that material as needed to provide the service — including extracting frames, calling a vision model, storing evidence stills, generating the web report and PDF, and showing the published report — and a repair estimate, if you share one — to anyone who has the share link.
We are not your video archive. We delete raw video on the schedule in our Privacy Policy, and an unfinished upload is deleted with its inspection. Reports, stills, PDFs and share links stay. Keep your own copy of any footage you may need later, for example to answer a question about something the report did not show.
You also grant us the right to use uploaded footage, extracted frames, telemetry, and reviewer corrections (approve, edit, reject, the reason for a reject, and any corrected kind, severity, or footage) to operate, evaluate, and improve detection. That includes training and testing the v2 model. We will not sell your footage or publish it in a public dataset. A partner labeling library, if you send us archive jobs, is stored separately from live product uploads so a video-retention job cannot delete it.
You represent that you have the right to upload the footage and the customer details (including any permission your jurisdiction requires to record and share a homeowner’s property and pipe). You are responsible for telling the homeowner what you are sharing when you send them a report link or a repair estimate.
4. Review gate and your professional judgment
In v1, no finding reaches a homeowner until someone on your team approves or edits it. Rejected findings are left off the report. You — not DrainSight — decide what is published, and a licensed reviewer on your side is the sign-off the homeowner sees. We may change who can review in a later version; we will not silently publish unreviewed AI output while this gate is the product rule.
Model output can be wrong, incomplete, or over-confident. Internal confidence scores stay in the review UI; they are not a promise of accuracy and they do not appear on the homeowner report. Belly confirmation requires a pitch readout on the camera overlay; cameras that do not show pitch will not get a confirmed belly from that path.
5. Reports and share links
A published report is available at an unguessable URL. Anyone with the link can view it. You control who you send it to. A shared repair estimate uses that same link. Anyone who has it can open the quote once you share it; a draft is not available. The public estimate shows your prices and does not show sold or declined. We tell search engines not to index the app or report pages; that is not a confidentiality guarantee if the link is forwarded or posted.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use the service to:
- upload footage or data you do not have the right to process;
- probe, scrape, or disrupt the service or other customers;
- present DrainSight output as a licensed engineering or municipal inspection, or strip the review step to send raw model output to a customer;
- violate the law.
We may suspend an account that creates risk for homeowners, other customers, or the service.
7. Plans, billing, and the beta
The account owner chooses a plan on the Billing page. Plans renew every month or every year until cancelled, and are charged in advance through Stripe, our payment processor. Prices are in US dollars. Sales tax is added where the law requires it.
Trial. A company gets one free trial. It needs a card, lasts 14 days, and covers 5 inspections. When the 14 days end, the card is charged for the plan you chose unless you cancelled before then. If you use all 5 inspections sooner, new uploads pause until the owner starts the plan from the Billing page; nothing is charged until then. A card that already had a trial on another account does not get a second one.
Changes and cancelling. Moving to a bigger plan, or from monthly to yearly on the same plan, takes effect right away: a new billing period on the new plan starts that day, and we charge its full price less credit for the unused part of your current period. If that credit is more than the new price, the rest stays on your account and pays your next invoices; it is not refunded to your card. Your renewal date moves to the day of the change. The Billing page shows the amount before you switch. The change happens only if that payment goes through; if the card is declined, your plan stays as it was. Moving to a smaller plan, or from yearly to monthly on the same plan, takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. You keep your current plan until then, and nothing is credited or refunded for the time already paid. The Billing page shows the date and lets you undo a change that has not started. During a free trial a change takes effect right away and nothing is charged.
Cancelling stops the next renewal; the plan keeps working until the end of the period you paid for, and you can undo the cancellation on the Billing page before then. We do not refund partial periods, except where the law requires it or we agree to in writing. If a payment fails, Stripe retries it; if it still fails, new uploads pause. A plan with a failed payment cannot be changed until the card is updated.
When a plan ends. New uploads stop. Your reports, share links, and PDFs keep working, and you can still read and publish what is already in the account.
Beta. Founding shops join with a code and keep the founding rate for three years from the start of their plan, for as long as the plan stays active. At the end of those three years the plan moves to the Shop price on its own, at the Shop price then in effect. The account shows the date before then. The founding rate stays on the founding plan; it cannot be moved to a different plan from the Billing page, so email us if you need one. If we end the founding rate early, or change the founding price during those three years, we email at least 60 days before that change. Founding includes unlimited inspections within fair use: if usage is far beyond a normal crew's, we will talk to you before changing anything. Some beta accounts are free by agreement. Features, detectors, and uptime will change. We do not promise a specific analysis time or that every camera brand will produce a confirmed belly.
8. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we store, how long raw video stays, and which processors we use (including Gemini in v1 and the planned v2 model). That policy is part of these terms.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that every defect in a pipe will be flagged, that pitch or footage is correct if the camera overlay is unreadable, or that a published report will be accepted by a city, insurer, or subsequent contractor.
10. Liability
DrainSight is not liable for repair decisions, prices or scope your team wrote on an estimate, missed defects, or homeowner disputes that arise from footage you uploaded or findings your team published. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for a claim is limited to the fees you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred U.S. dollars if you paid nothing (including during a free beta). We are not liable for lost profits, lost footage after you delete it or after it is deleted on the schedule in our Privacy Policy, or indirect damages.
11. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify DrainSight against claims that arise from footage or customer data you uploaded, a report you published, an estimate you shared, or your breach of these terms, including a claim that you lacked permission to record or share the job.
12. Termination
You may stop using the service and delete inspections from the app. We may suspend or close an account for breach, abuse, or if we shut the beta down. Surviving sections include the license to use frames and labels we already processed to improve detection, sections 9–11, and this sentence.
13. Changes
We may update these terms as the product changes (including when v2 detection ships). The new terms apply when we post them here. If you do not agree, stop uploading and close the account.
14. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Courts in Utah have exclusive jurisdiction, except that we may seek injunctive relief anywhere to protect the service.
